As the composer behind The Ultimate Uncut Edition of the anime (Episodes 1-67) and 5 iconic DBZ films, Johnson provided the sonic backdrop for Goku and Vegeta’s legendary battles. But now Johnson is engaged in a different kind of fight: he is running to become the next Attorney General of Texas!

With the Democratic Primary approaching this Tuesday, March 3, 2026, Johnson is asking Texans—and the global DBZ community—to lend him their energy to win this battle.

After years as a litigator in Dallas, he entered politics in 2017 with a goal that many thought was impossible: flipping a ‘solid red’ district that hadn’t seen a Democratic victory in over 30 years.

• The Primary Win: He secured the Democratic nomination with 70% of the vote.
• The General Election: He defied the odds, flipping Dallas’ District 16 by 8 percentage points.
• The Millennial Surge: Data showed a higher-than-expected turnout among Millennial voters, many of whom were drawn to his unique background.

In these elections, Nathan heard from a lot of DBZ fans who were excited about his work as the composer of their favorite series, and he told me that many Texans voted for him when they had never voted for anyone before.

Nathan Johnson’s Accomplishments in the Senate

After transforming into a State Senator, and now in his fourth term, Johnson has moved ‘even further beyond’ his base form power level by passing 134 bills into law. His legislative work has touched on the most pressing issues facing Texans today:

• Infrastructure: Secured $2 billion to fortify the Texas power grid following Winter Storm Uri.
• Healthcare: Expanded coverage to 350,000 uninsured Texans and fought for Medicaid expansion.
• Technology: Authored modernizations for Texas law regarding Artificial Intelligence, cybersecurity, and data privacy.

He says, “As a Senator, I’ve been able to get important things done. Sometimes by collaborating, sometimes by fighting, sometimes both.”

The Campaign for Attorney General

Johnson’s ‘Spirit Bomb’ for this election is a platform focused on restoring integrity to the office of the Attorney General.

Endorsed by the Houston Chronicle as the “best option” to replace the “corrupt” incumbent Ken Paxton, Johnson’s messaging blends his legal expertise with the fighting spirit fans know from the anime.

Johnson said on his X account: “As Attorney General, I’ll uphold the rule of law, even when the Governor and the Legislature don’t. It’s time Texas had a good lawyer.”

In recent statements, he has criticized federal overreach and emphasized the role of state AGs as a firewall for constitutional rights. For example, on February 24, he credited the Democratic AGs across the nation as the reason for Donald Trump’s tariffs being overturned by the Supreme Court.

Democratic AGs stood up to Trump on tariffs and won — and secured an important check on his election meddling schemes.
