This is an unprecedented event: where a Japanese anime has its world premiere in Hollywood, and actors from both sides of the Pacific come together to celebrate with fans.

It’s not just the premiere in Japan, or in America, but the entire world.

The film ran in its original Japanese, with English subtitles.

FUNimation has announced that an English dub will be coming this summer, but no release date has been announced.

In related news, Spain is recieving an official Spanish dub that will run in theaters from November 5 to 8, 2015!

For those who missed the event, here is an on-the-scenes video of the pre-show festivities by Battle Geek Plus. It’s spoiler free, and includes an interview at 22:00 with the creators!

Afterward, there was a Q and A session where Masako Nozawa was asked, “Why is Goku so iconic?” And she replied:

“Goku is everyone’s friend.”

What do you think of that statement? Is she right?

One of the fans in attendance, Mukesh Chumber, told me in a post-screening interview, “The film maintains the fun characters and humor of Battle of Gods, while achieving a more intense plot. The climax was suspenseful. Every time I thought I had the plot figured out, the film found a way to betray my expectations.”

Sounds like classic Toriyama!
