Refocused

Goku Meditates

Goku Meditates

Hey everybody. Quick update.

I recently quit my web development job as a UX Engineer in an attempt to refocus my life.

My goal is to spend more time working on the Dragon Ball book and to publish it as quickly as possible. I’ll be living on savings and occasional freelance gigs while I dedicate my time to the book and some other endeavors. Overall I am working on simplifying my life through the power of “less is more.”

It was a big decision for me as I realized that web development is not what I want to do with my life. Definitely a good skill to have, but not what I’m passionate about.

Progress update on the DBZ book: The editors are working on their draft now and I’ll take their notes and apply it during my next wave of edits. In the mean time, I’m cleaning things up and getting ready. I’m also working on trying to get the book to be officially approved by TOEI in Japan. This would have huge ramifications for both the book and the entire Dragon Ball community!

I think what you doing is great. Dragon Ball Z and Goku himself has also inspired me to strive for self perfection. I started with learning Tai Chi and later decided to learn Shaolin Kung Fu. I just recently started learning about Falun Dafa. I loved Tai Chi but it was very time consuming like you said. It’s good to see that I’m not the only one. Thank you for your time.

    • That’s great to hear, Josh! It sounds like we are walking a very similar path. Please feel free to write me at any time if you want to talk. I’m sure we have a lot in common.

Well Derek, it seems you are also trying to re-focus on things. Of course you may know of me and my project, so I am trying to give it all I have to develop what it is needed for the US copyright, and I may be able to do it personally if I am able to get my visa after April 9th! Let’s keep straight ahead! :)

Great to hear that, good luck. I what to learn a little bit of shaolin kung fu these days but i don’t know where to find a master….I love the series and i want to try to do something like them! Great blog here my friend!

    • That’s great! DBZ has inspired a lot of people to start practicing the martial arts. I think you should go for it. Shaolin is excellent. Try to find traditional training instead of Wu Shu if at all possible.

There is a saying in the martial arts community: "When the student is ready, the master will appear." If you’re ready to learn, then perhaps your teacher will present himself soon. It’s only a question of whether or not you will be ready to walk through that newly opened door.

Thanks for these words. Had inspired me a lot. Now i will find a teacher soon enough! I like the shaolin training. But i don’t know if i will find something that i will like more than what i chose, but i will look after something!
