Dragon Ball Kai Anime is Back!

dragon ball z kai anime returns to tv april 6 goku super saiyan

The long awaited return of Dragon Ball Kai is here. The April issue of V-Jump Magazine and their official website state that the Majin Buu Arc will air on Japanese TV on April 6.

Dragon Ball Kai will air at the 9am time slot on Sunday mornings alongside One Piece, and a new episode will air each week.

It has been 3 years since Dragon Ball Kai was cancelled at the end of the Cell Arc and was replaced by Toriko, but now Dragon Ball Kai is replacing Toriko. You can’t keep a good Saiyan down!

The year 2014 is Dragon Ball’s 30th anniversary, and so far it’s a big one!

The airing of Dragon Ball Kai’s Majin Buu Arc coincides with the special release of the Jaco the Galactic Patrolman tankobon print volume and the mini-manga featuring Goku’s mom, Gine.

In addition, the full color Dragon Ball Z manga is confirmed to continue into the Cell and Majin Buu Arcs!

No confirmation has been made about the English dub, Dragon Ball Z Kai, aside from old news from the voice actors that they were recording their lines over a year ago. I have reached out to Sean Schemmel and Christopher Sabat for comment.

UPDATE: Christopher Sabat confirms in an exclusive with The Dao of Dragon Ball that FUNimation has NOT dubbed the new Majin Buu Arc of Dragon Ball Z Kai.

Will the new Dragon Ball Kai have original music from a new composer, since Kenji Yamamoto was let go? Perhaps the man who did the Battle of Gods soundtrack?

Will there be a new introduction and ending, with new animation between commercials?

It’s time to get excited. We’re going to have new DBZ to watch each week for the rest of the year!

Super Saiyan 3, Ultimate Gohan, Majin Vegeta. It begins April 6!!
